5.06 - Joy The team takes on the case of a dreary middle-aged man who has been experiencing unexplained recurring blackouts and time lapses. With possible diagnoses ranging from a stroke to a concussion to toxins from the consumer products he has been -*test*-('")ing for work, they soon find that the man, who is raising his 12-year-old daughter on his own, has been experiencing intense sleepwalking spells. As the team tries to find out what he could be doing during his sleep to make himself sick, his condition continues to deteriorate and his daughter also falls gravely ill. Meanwhile, House finds out Cuddy is going to adopt a baby that is due in two weeks. But when Cuddy meets the birth mother in person and notices a strange rash on her arm, Cuddy brings the mother to Princeton-Plainsboro where her condition worsens. Cuddy must take on the case as both a doctor and a potential mother, and she and the team are faced with a heart-wrenching decision that could risk either the birth mother's or the baby's life in the "Joy" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Oct. 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Holy Huddy makeout!
Gee, 13 was awful snotty tonight, wasn't she?
I wish that House had eased up on Cuddy a bit. He was too harsh.
Poor, poor Cuddy. I felt so bad for her.

Wow. This Huddy heart is a happy one. I didn't want it all mushy and what not...lots of good tension and a wtf kinda feel. Good stuff.
He kissed her and she was the stunned one. I knew she wouldn't get the baby...soooooo glad the baby didn't die. (I'm a sap, what can I say?)
Darn election night.

Nice making out they did there. A++ would snog agin.
As if there was any way Cuddy would get to be happy. Really. I think not.
But I think that she has a case against the Baby Mama, if she wanted to pursue it. Baby Mama said, in front of witnesses, "She's yours now." That should count for something, maybe.

Wow. My life is now complete. When House knocked on the door, my best friend and I grabbed hands and didn't let go until the credits came on. This... this was amazing.
I'd been predicting all along that the birth mom would change her mind, but I really did think for a second there that Cuddy had her, and it hurt so much more when Wilson was talking about how happy she was.
Kutner's bet was hilarious, and I loved Taub buying cocaine. Thirteen was snotty tonight, but the "going to a baseball game with another kid" line was funny.
Oh, two weeks from now is going to be insane.

I never expected her to get the baby. As soon as I heard the episode title and premise, I was like, well there is no joy on House.
The kiss was well done. (Yes I said that LOL) Far better than House/Cam obviously. But it was random, and I think that is why I have had such a hard time with the premise, that it is coming after House has been chasing after Wilson like a jilted lover. I am interested to see what happens next, if anything.
I personally think the kiss was to make up for all the cracks he has made about how she would make a lousy mother all of these years. Perhaps House finally has some perspective after Wilson/Amber and losing his father.
But House has jerked Cuddy/Wilson et all around for years, I do not believe House has changed that much.

Whew, that wasn't awful at all. Not amazing, but I will never insult this episode by comparing it to "Fetal Position" again.
I was actually disappointed in the House/Cuddy kiss. I mean, Hugh Laurie + Lisa Edelstein = Instant Hot, right? But I thought the House/Cameron was way hotter. Oh well.
I was feeling for Cuddy at the end. (Damn LE and her excellent crying!) When House flip-flopped on her being a good mother, it just reinforced why I hate this pairing.
What Wilson said in the promo better be a misdirect.
Loved 13 and Taub this week.

'Kay, I actually loved the kiss. I loved that House moved in on her and it was just...I loved that kiss. Great job with that.
I really felt horrible for Cuddy when birth mom changed her mind, she looked so devastated, wonderful job by LE, she knocked it out of the park.

Oh yes, MUCH better than Fetal Position, thank God.

I'm so happy to hear you say that. I know you were worried about how LE was going to pull this off. She was so amazing tonight.

As much as I love to look at Hugh's eyes, that intense close-up during one of the differentials was bizarre. Deran Serafian has always made some strange directing choices.
And no Hugh as exec producer credit yet again.
IHARTHUGH- 10-28-2008
Well I enjoyed the kiss, but it was also, to my mind, a bit odd - Cuddy's just said one of those very true statements that House needs to hear about how he acts, and his response is to kiss her?
I too am glad the baby didn't die. Also that the birth mother didn't die. No death, just heartache.
LightMyCandle- 10-28-2008
She was so amazing tonight.
Indeed she was.

Yeah, the direction bothered me too. Especially the outdoor scenes with Thirteen and Taub. I felt like I was watching some gritty cop show.
