Is House's new catch-phrase "If you're happy, I'm..." It's not as good as "niiiice" from season 1.
House can't say 'if you're happy, I'm happy' because House isn't happy.

I think he also was upset that he didn't know about it. He'd had Lucas investigating Cuddy, but Lucas never said a thing about adoption.
Oh, that reminds me, Mr. Brilliant Monk/Shawn Spencer (okay, not Shawn because I love him) totally managed to miss the adoption? And he's been shown to be so intuitive but it never crossed his mind that Wilson was playing them?
Bottom line, Wilson>PI. That is all.
I love Cuddy and Wilson friendship scenes so in that sense I was happy with the last scene, but I can only picture this whole thing playing out in very headache inducing way. I don't mean any potential Huddy, I mean potential hysterical Cuddy. *shudders and prepares self* Don't get me wrong, I like Cuddy, she just tends to irk me when the baby thing comes up.

Yeah it goes along with that running gag of her introducing/apologizing for him to the POTW.
I wonder if that plays into her need for control that House was talking about. If she can control House and the way House interacts with her and other people, then that helps her control something in her life.

But it seems I missed something there with Chase and Foreman. Who wants a virtual high-five for filling me in? Pleeaaase.
Foreman asked if he as boring. Chase answered "yes" with a little smirk. Foreman asked if he was saying that just to screw with him. Chase said "yes and why would you expect anything else?" Foreman got huffy and said that he expects House to jerk his chain, the new team to kiss his ass, Cameron to make him feel better, and Chase to be honest because he doesn't give a crap. Chase said that yes he was boring and that he never loses control which is a good thing, but also boring. He said that mistakes are what makes people interesting and that never losing control meant that Foreman never put himself out there or took risks. Then he said "Then again, you have a tattoo, so maybe I'm wrong" and shrugged.
Of course those aren't exact quotes, but you get the picture. Now where's my high-five?

I love it when House and Wilson play each other on purpose, to have fun. It fills me with so much glee.
House leaving the doughnut and milk for Wilson to have after his fall was such a great quiet gesture that House is taking steps to do a bit more for Wilson. YAY! And then House trying to be supportive when Wilson was talking about dating someone new... YAY! Now, next episode if Wilson refrains from a lecture during a difficult time, I'll be over the moon. :D

Oh, Thirteen. Go find religion or travel to India or do something interesting, because you sure don't look like you're having much fun. I thought the scene where she told the patient she was dying was spot on, like it was hitting her all over again. Sadly, this time she actually deserved to be fired, frankly, unlike the previous occasions. I guess getting a yeast infection in her mouth makes up for that. Ew.
But anyway, to me the episode flowed far better than DCE did. Or possibly I'm just vicious and enjoy watching Thirteen squirm.
Loved the scene between Foreman and Chase. So animated and funny.
I knew Wilson was messing with House. I just couldn't wait to find out how.
Aw, Cuddy is so happy. House is so freaked out. This can't be good.

I didn't want to be the one to say it but I think extra cat is right, the reason Thirteen isn't interesting is because of the actress playing her.
Some of us have been saying that since her first appearance back in The Right Stuff.
I actually think the actress who played the patient tonight could play the 13 role much better. She wasn't fantastic, but she is more emotive and interesting. She would have been a better casting choice.
Too bad House firing 13 didn't stick. I knew it wouldn't stick, but I sure enjoyed it while it lasted. (Except that she still didn't go away!)

(high fives extra cat) Thanks, cat! But oh, Foreman, when has the new team ever kissed your ass?
So this director is the one who did that ridiculous direction in 'Daddy's Boy'. Now I know.
Now that I think about it, I appreciate Wilson's "nothing's changed" line as foreshadowing the end of the episode. Wilson was reassuring House, and believed he was telling the truth, but it wasn't true. House was just learning to trust the ground under his feet again with Wilson returning, only to have it disappear with learning that Cuddy is adopting. (Not that I have sympathy with his reaction to the news. Get over yourself, man.)
Sadly I can understand why Cuddy wouldn't turn to House for a character reference.

Yes, I loved that bit. It was a small, sweet gesture, but totally House. I hope they continue in this direction. I'm loving their renewed relationship.
Since when did Foreman get so needy? His whole, "you investigated me, right? Right? RIGHT?!" was weird to me.
Also loved House's "if you build it, they will come line" in reference to the crib.

Okay, I thought this during the scene and forgot to mention it in my earlier post, but that last scene in the baby store when House wouldn't congratulate Cuddy and the look on his face - did anyone else think maybe he was hurt because she hadn't asked him to be the sperm donor? That's what crossed my mind. I know she told Wilson in FJ that she had a miscarriage and I think one or two implantations that didn't take, so she obviously decided to go the adoption route. But maybe House doesn't know about any of that and he's hurt that she didn't want to ask him to father her child.

But she's not having a kid with someone else, she's adopting.
Cuddy was right to keep it a secret from House until she was approved -- even if she weren't dumb enough to ask him to be a reference, he could easily butt in and ruin it.
I think he was hurt that she told Wilson and not him plus he's upset about such a big change in his life. The fact that Wilson was involved in the decision to adopt means he'll probably be involved with the child. House expects -- demands -- to be the neediest person in both their lives.

Was this one of the first times that House actually smiled (or maybe half smiled, half smirked) more than once in an episode? Just great. And that little hand over his heart gesture when he first lays eyes on 13's bedroom? Priceless. It's these seemingly small things that make Hugh's portrayal just fascinating to watch.
I agree with Poeia and others who don't despise OW or her character. Yep, there are legions of actresses who are less talented. But she is boring, that's it in a nutshell. And the character is supposed to be anything but boring. I should care about this young, vibrant woman who is dying of a slow, degenerative disease but I don't. Even during tonight's episode, 13's scenes seemed to drag on too long.

I liked the ep and I liked 13 in it. I think she did a good job moving in and out of the numbness she's feeling, daring to feel a little with the POTW and then realising it was the situation, not the person. I loved that House was not as badass as he seemed with her, even though he was well within his rights to fire her--I prefer to see the House that doesn't like to admit he cares, but does. SPOILER And I think 13/Foreman will be interesting, though I doubt we'll see a long term connection. But right now 13 is out of control and Foreman far too in control---I think it may be interesting to see each find a new equilibrium. END SPOILER And yes, Chase and Foreman was wonderful. Go Chase--and keep this up when Cameron is the one needing the talk, please. I think the way the relationships are settling out and in is fantastic.
I loved the House and Wilson and Cuddy stuff, but have a bad bad feeling, sigh. Nothing stays the same and poor House can never quite keep things where he wants/needs them. Although, yes, of course, get over yourself House and congratulate Cuddy. Wilson's pranking was brilliant and reminds us what a game player he is. And House's doughnut of love--awww.
Liking this season very much.
Mod Note: If it hasn't aired, it's a spoiler. Please tag these sorts of things folks. Thanks.

Wilson wasn't involved in the decision to adopt just -*test*-('")ified on her behalf to apply. There's no reason to think he will be involved with the baby just that he's helping her. Cuddy quite short on friends and she was supportive of him at Amber's death and after he left PPTH.
But Cuddy with a baby could be distracted from work and by virtue of that House. That's House's real worry.

But she's not having a kid with someone else, she's adopting.
I know, I just had the feeling maybe he was flashing back to the fact that she was going to ask Wilson to be the sperm donor when she was trying to conceive, but didn't ask him. Maybe a small part of him which he'd never admit to, wants to father a child and thought she was going to ask him at some point and now that's over. But yeah, the fact that she confided in Wilson about the adoption definitely didn't sit well.
