IHARTHUGH- 10-21-2008

Brian's Song was the story of two friends, football players, who were best friends, and one of them died young. I haven't seen the movie since the early 70s or whenever it was made, but it was sad sad sad. And the two men's love - Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers - for each other was really moving. Or so I remember it.

Dr.Jerk- 10-21-2008

First of all....Chase is my third favourite character(behind House and Wilson) so I loved this episode. He was just..awesome. Yeah. Foreman is boring. AND IT'S CANON! But also, it was kinda funny when he and house said "Like thirteen." ....Okay, let me take a wild guess here: Foreman is going to sleep with thirteen. Possible Spoilers ...and House is going to kiss Cuddy after the baby dies/gets born/P.I tries to comfort her and House kisses her in front of him. You know, just like dogs pee to mark their territory. End possible spoilers. EDIT: Those are considered possible spoilers? .....cool. This means I must be close. And I better be, I got a bet on that happening before this season ends. Oh, and I was thinking that the whole Wilson/House thing was getting too soap opearish. Thank God it was just a prank this time.

Poeia- 10-21-2008

There has been some growth with H/W. The only other time Wilson got even for pranks was when he finally sawed House's cane in half. This time he came up with an elaborate plan to mess with House's head (and make him spend money on the PI in the process.) That's growth. And it was also the only good thing about this episode. I thought it was very cruel to fire Thirteen, insist she was fired, keep her fired even after she became productive again. And then hire her back. How could they do that to us. If House needs a woman on his team, they could hire a beautiful one who can act once Thirteen is gone. Is House's new catch-phrase "If you're happy, I'm..." It's not as good as "niiiice" from season 1.

LightMyCandle- 10-21-2008

So sue me, I liked it. (But I don't find Thirteen to be the antichrist, so ...) I liked it too. I even liked 13 in it. Loved House so excited about pranking Wilson at the beginning. God, Wilson is a master manipulator, I didn't know what to think after a while. I'm so glad that they seem to be getting back to normal and that they have all these plans together, bowling, playing poker. I'm just a content little fangirl right now. Kind of felt bad for Cuddy at the end, but, did she and Wilson really expect House to be happy about this? The man finally got Wilson back and now Cuddy's going to have a major change. Can't they see he wants his Wilson and Cuddy exactly as they are?

I thought last week's episode would have made a good series finale. Lo and behold, I almost forgot House was on tonight until about 20 minutes before the episode started! I enjoyed the ep. I even liked the end scene with Thirteen and Random Chick; it summed up what she's going through so well. I wasn't quite feeling the Thirteen/patient stuff, but this is the first episode I thought Olivia Wilde isn't as weak an actress as I thought. (Still weak, though :P ) I loved the return of "something always changes" and it being life's grea-*test*-('") tragedy in House's mind. It was one of my favorite lines from House, and I kept hoping it would pop up amid the "people don't change" and "dying changes everything." Goes without saying, House and Wilson were cute. They're so warped. And Chase telling Foreman he's boring, thank you. Maybe at the end of this arc, I'll find something in particular to like about Foreman? There's a part of me that's always going to love Cuddy (I strongly suspect that's because of Lisa Edelstein), so the adoption thing made me happy for a minute, even though I know it will end in doom and I should probably lower my expectations to Fetal Position levels for the next episode. I'm enjoying this season a lot.

The problem is OW. I think another actress could sell this role. But her acting is so flat that I can't feel anything for the character. For instance, when the patient was about to crash she said, "Get the paddles" with all the urgency of someone who had just agreed to play ping-pong with their annoying little brother. Exactly. She makes it hard to feel any kind of sympathy for the character. And how many times has House fired 13 now? I think that number is catching up with the number of House's near death experiences. Loved all the Wilson stuff. He knew House's penchant for going through, or rather, paying for, someone's trash. And it was directed by Emmy winner Greg Yaitanes. Despite all the 13 focus, there were enough other good things in it to overcome that.

The way House acts around 13 annoys me. He treats her differently than anyone else. He should have fired her for her incompetency in the Survivor arc, but instead he coddled her. Now he's firing her to play some kind of tough-love mentoring role? Who is this person and what happened to House?

Namaste- 10-21-2008

Anybody else think of LE's character in The West Wing when Wilson was describing his "girlfriend?"

Poeia- 10-21-2008

I don't think Thirteen is the anti-Christ. And I don't thin OW is the world's worst actress -- I could name many ahead of her in that race. But I do think she's boring. Early in Mel Gibson's career, I felt the same about him. In things like The Bounty I thought he was like a pretty painting, taking up space on the screen. Olivia Wilde doesn't pull me out of the scene the way a Kelly Rippa or Madonna or any of a dozen other truly bad actresses would. She's just... adequate. So, while she doesn't destroy everything she touches (or acts in), she also doesn't sell me on any of it. And I need/expect better than that from this show. ETA: And how many times has House fired 13 now? I think that number is catching up with the number of House's near death experiences. Maybe they're waiting until Thirteen is fired 13 times for it to stick.

Chipmunk_love- 10-21-2008

Anybody else think of LE's character in The West Wing when Wilson was describing his "girlfriend?" That's immediately what popped to my mind. The fact that Wilson was, in fact, spending his time with Cuddy makes it even more ironic. Meta, perhaps? ETA: On OW. I think she is getting better and getting a better hold of her character. I did feel for 13 tonight; I wasn't completely sure of what she was doing, but I did feel for her.

spicyride- 10-21-2008

did she and Wilson really expect House to be happy about this? I agree. I think he was hurt Cuddy didn't confide in him. Afterall he gave her the injections, went over sperm donors with her. He kept this all to himself. He even in one of the episodes told the team (jokingly) about someone being a sperm donor for Cuddy and realizing his breach he covered it (I'm vaguely remembering this so forgive me). So yeah, I think he was hurt. I was sort of disappointed in this episode, I think mainly because I think Thirteen gets too much time and I don't dig her character. However House realizing the diagnosis and then giving it to her and the ending scene with Cuddy and Wilson redeemed it for me.

Taiga- 10-21-2008

And it was directed by Emmy winner Greg Yaitanes Did he win an Emmy for directing? Because the too-close closeups in one of House and Thirteen's scenes was annoying the heck out of me. Okay, my TV went berserk for about two minutes. With the Chase and Foreman scene all I saw was Foreman asking Chase if he was boring and Chase saying yes, then when I had the TV back under control we were in musical montage. But it seems I missed something there with Chase and Foreman. Who wants a virtual high-five for filling me in? Pleeaaase.

deelaundry- 10-21-2008

That was an interesting reaction. I think House was a bit upset that he wasn't asked. After all, who knows more about Cuddy's baby issues than House. I think he also was upset that he didn't know about it. He'd had Lucas investigating Cuddy, but Lucas never said a thing about adoption. (Also, House doesn't want to share Mommy's attention.)

IHARTHUGH- 10-21-2008

I kind of hated that moment where 13 starts analyzing what House is doing in terms of his having her work with the patient (sorry I can't think of the details, but it's just that way she has of suddenly knowing him so well). I wished, so bad, that 13 would stay fired. oh well.

iamdaffodils- 10-21-2008

Taiga - Greg Yaitanes won for House's Head. He also directed DIYD and another ep. I can't remember. I kind of hated that moment where 13 starts analyzing what House is doing in terms of his having her work with the patient (sorry I can't think of the details, but it's just that way she has of suddenly knowing him so well). I wished, so bad, that 13 would stay fired. oh well. Yeah it goes along with that running gag of her introducing/apologizing for him to the POTW. eta - Yaitanes also directed Daddy's Boy and SDL.
