Along with tele-novelas, Wilson is definitely a closet....shopping channel viewer :) That's where I always see those wind up flashlights.

Don't miss the PI guy; he's past his expiration date for me.

I loved that House, age12, told John that he had figured out that he wasn't his father (and therefore that Blythe had cheated on him.) John, with his dedication to not letting anyone get by with a lie, should have appreciated that. House many not have been annoying people since he was 3, but he seems to have perfected it by the age of 12. (Actually, I can understand not talking to House after that. On the other hand, not letting a kid eat if he arrived 2 minutes late for dinner...)
Blythe looked just right. Still an attractive woman but her hair wasn't done as well as it was when she was going on vacation, she was a little wan, etc. She would get dressed up for her husband's funeral but not go to the beauty parlor.
I liked Foreman going to Chase and Cameron to help interpret House. It takes a team to be a proper House-whisperer.
The new team was fine. They were all incorporated into the episode. There was follow-up to the cliffhanger of whether Taub told his wife. Kutner is, indeed, turning out to be the most like House in his thought processes. I even liked Thirteen -- when House asked if Bubbles was her new stripper name she just said "yes" and kept going with the differential.
In Whatever It Takes, wasn't Wilson's ring tone What a Man?

The whole "Wilson throwing bottles at glass" just doesn't ring true to me. The man is so mild mannered. Just doesn't fit his character.
No such a thing as a mild mannered person. I mean yeah, of course some people don't always yell or scream, but everyone has got something that just...sets them off, you know? Wilson is not a God. He is the Devil's best friend, but not a God. He can't act like a saint.

It was actually everyone's ringtone. 'Course if you think about it that way, that makes Amber calling him in that episode slightly disturbing, but whatever. :D

This is random, but when House woke up, saw Wilson, and smiled, it reminded me of Wilson's Heart, when Amber woke up and smiled at Wilson.
Things like that make me a little too happy.

I'm glad he stopped the funeral rant for his mother's sake. He could have continued and made her feel bad. It was good to see him think of someone else's feelings. He made his point, but he didn't go overboard.
I was cringing, but knew he was going to do it. Too much underlying anger for House not to say his piece, but then he looked at his Mom and Wilson and stopped himself. I totally loved that.
House obviously had a really complicated love/hate relationship with his dad. It is also significant that he still thought of him as his dad even after he knew he wasn't biologically his father. Chase was right. House was and still is emotionally bonded to the man.
The funniest part of House putting the light down the drain was Wilson not getting mad or frustrated but going back to his trunk to get a second light. He was totally prepared for House's stalling tactics. That was hilarious.
Wilson is totally addicted to House and House's craziness.
Welcome back Wilson!

Just realized - no PI guy tonight.
I didn't miss him. In fact, he didn't cross my mind at all until I read your post.

Just realized - no PI guy tonight.
Thank God for small favors. I've had my fill of that guy and then some. The last thing I wanted was to see him interrupting my H/W reunion episode in some way. Glad St. Doris had enough brilliance to leave him out of this.

*sniffs* Why must you remind me of these things? I get what you're saying and House's smile made my heart leap with joy, but now I remember Amber's and then she died and then...

And apparently the House 'rents live around Lexington, Ky. (Unless there's another "Lexington" that would fit the billl. But Lexington would be a logical flight distance, but still doable in a drive.
I was actually thinking it was Lexington, Virginia. I've visited there, it's very quiet, beautiful, warm, it's a nice place to retire, and it has a strong military presence. (VMI is there.) It would be a 6-hour drive from Princeton to Lexington, Virginia, as opposed to a 10-hour drive from Princeton to Lexington, Kentucky.
And now I fanwank that John spent some years teaching at VMI.
(Someone upthread mentioned Lexington, Massachusetts. That would be a 5-hour drive, but I think the references to the south rules that out.)

Wow, that was fantastic!
Only thing I had a question about was the reason the POTW had the metal things in her brain. With China's one-child policy, wasn't there an exemption for farmers at that time? And her parents were farmers? Someone who knows more about this than I, please explain?
Poeia- 10-14-2008
Based on natural birth rates, there are estimates that as many as one million female Chinese infants were probably born and disappeared during that time.

This episode just flowed, so much backstory on House/Wilson. I must rewatch right away. Didn't House tell Wilson that his Dad had been sick or dying for the last year? So he could've had a final confrontation or some closure if he wanted it.
Glad Wilson threw a bottle instead of taking a swing at House, that would have felt contrived to me. Though my one nit picky complaint is what funeral home has a room stocked with liquor?
It really all comes down to the writing. Great actors can take a great script and just fly with it. When Doris E. was interviewed about writing this episode, she talked about an "iconic moment" between H/W that she did not want to lose in editing. I think it was Wilson admitting he likes being in House's orbit not because he's needy but because House makes his life fun. Annoying yes, but ultimately fun.

There was also a body in a coffin in that room. I assume that a wake was about to start.

You're right . .. I better not sleep alone tonight".
That's the best line of the ep. Serious melt!
