Doris Egan definitely deserves her sainthood. That's the first episode in over a year that I truly enjoyed! (The last two of Season 4 were good, but it was hard to enjoy watching Amber die.) I nearly died laughing when House's phone started ringing to MMMMBop. The joke didn't get old. Priceless. Maybe I'm showing my age here. LOL Of course, now I have MmmmBop stuck on repeat in my head. Oh, horrors. It was FANTASTIC to see Chase, Cameron, and Foreman working together again. It felt like going home after a very, very long period away. I also love the nod to the show's history with letting Chase comment on not buying it that House didn't really care no matter what he felt about his father. It was great to see at the end that House really was messed up about his Dad's death--blood relation or not. Cameron jumped right into the differential. You can tell she misses it. The stuff with House and Wilson felt like going home too. They were brilliant and funny and sometimes I didn't know whether to cry or to laugh--like House kissing his dad.... only to get a DNA sample. I can see a zillion fanfics will be born from this episode. It is kind of hard to believe that Wilson would forgive and forget based on this roadtrip, so I hope things don't go completely back to normal between House and Wilson immediately. This is the first episode in over a year that, to me, didn't feel completely unbalanced and like I was watching some other show. This shows that it is possible for them to integrate new and old. They just need to get their best writers on the job. Let Doris Egan lead the way. Please!

I agree - this is the first ep I enjoyed since season 3, minus House's Head and Wilson's Heart. I was reminded why I love this show!

And apparently the House 'rents live around Lexington, Ky. (Unless there's another "Lexington" that would fit the billl. But Lexington would be a logical flight distance, but still doable in a drive. Could also be Lexington, Mass. But given John's accent in "Daddy's Boy" and my fanwank that he and Blythe moved back to the old home turf when he retired, Lexington, Ky., is more probable. That and the fact that the sheriff in this ep. gave off a Southern vibe, even without a strong Southern accent.

Let us all build a shrine of Doris Egan. This episode made my day. My week. The gayness of it was fantastic. Welcome back Wilson, you have been seriously missed.

Let Doris Egan lead the way. Please! Seconded.

If only Doris Egan and Lawrence Kaplow could take turns writing every episode. Agree extra_cat - it was great to see the old team working together. We need more of that whenever possible. Okay, my shallow self - who wants to see Hugh drop his pants every episode - was disappointed that when Cuddy gave him the shot of whatever sedative that was, she injected it so high up on his hip you didn't get the view I was hoping for. I was wishing for a turnabout of when he gave her the fertility shots in WYD. Damn. Also wish there would have been more Cuddy, but I know they couldn't fit everything in. Still basking in the afterglow of such a great episode.

This was a roller coaster evening, in my mind. I actually got so annoyed at House's knocking the keys and then the flashlight into the grate that I really actually said to myself - that's it. I'm over this show. But of course, I had to see what he was going to do at the funeral - and to see his mother again. And then the scene in the funeral home following the "eulogy." I just loved Wilson showing he really does care, and of course House's real need and love for Wilson. OK - I'm still hooked! Damn, I love that man, and I love those men!

House also made the crack about the house with the cross burning on the lawn, which I took to mean that he was implying the Klan and the South.

I'm glad he stopped the funeral rant for his mother's sake. He could have continued and made her feel bad. It was good to see him think of someone else's feelings. He made his point, but he didn't go overboard.

he was implying the Klan and the South. Lexington, KY ain't even the South, y'all! Hell, Kentucky's a blue state. Damn Hollywood liberals with their misrepresentation. Can't even keep their stereotypes straight.* You know what else can't be kept straight? House and Wilson! Because they are so obviously in love and we all know that Wilson throwing that bottle through the window was just a metaphor for the two of them finally having a breakthrough about the true intensity of their relationship. *Y'all know where I live, right? And that I'm a smartass. You should probably know that, too.

The whole "Wilson throwing bottles at glass" just doesn't ring true to me. The man is so mild mannered. Just doesn't fit his character.

I'm glad he stopped the funeral rant for his mother's sake. He could have continued and made her feel bad. It was good to see him think of someone else's feelings. He made his point, but he didn't go overboard. I'm really glad they did it just that way though... that House started to tell the brutal truth, but then held himself back and turned what he had said into something partly positive. It would've been wrong for him to try to spare someone's feelings completely, even if it is his mom.

It's always the quiet ones have the worst tempers.

fffaw- 10-14-2008

You know what else can't be kept straight? House and Wilson! Hear, hear! From your lips to David Shore's ears! ;-)

Just realized - no PI guy tonight.
