The patient taking three experimental drugs at once was a cool idea. This makes two eps in a row where the medical case could have been a really great story -- but wasn't, because the execution fell flat. The interruption of the surgery was predictable (though they almost saved it by redirecting instead of stopping the surgery), the crisis scene with the tracheotomy had no tension or suspense at all, and the "under the stairs" bit was also predictable. I had no idea what the final diagnosis would be, but the moment Kutner said that about hiding under the stairs, I knew that phrase was going to be connected to House's epiphany. Ah well. As much as I love the occasional ep focusing on the personal storylines, I'd really prefer most episodes to have a good medical story with small personal bits woven in. They seem to be shifting away from the medical procedural to the soap opera, and I'm not really happy about that. But I did love House naming the drugs after his fellows. :-) And someone besides House hit the patient! And Chase's delivery of the cat line made me laugh out loud -- did that several times, actually, so I guess it must have been a good episode anyway. Lucas on House's piano, though, I completely did NOT predict! The Lucas and House scenes tended to go too quickly for me to even make out what they were saying half the time, but Lucas and Cuddy were great. I'm officially a Cuddy/Lucas shipper now. The whole House/Cuddy/Lucas story was fantastic, and I'm already disappointed that he won't be around forever.

I know it's blasphemy to say this here, but I want the PI to replace Wilson. He's so much fun, and the actor is great. Blasphemer! I'm enjoying him but I think the schtick could get real old, real fast. He's good at finding stuff out but bad at lying and always pops up when you don't expect to see him. A couple of episodes of him is good because we're learning a lot about House. Ideally, I'd like to know that he and House remain friends -- a mention here and there. Maybe he and Wilson would hit it off and we'd hear that the three of them hung out last night. But, in the long run, House and Lucas are amused by each other. House and Wilson love each other (even if Wilson is trying to ignore that fact right now.) And I'm not talking HoYay. What is Kutner in the Guinness Book of Records for? I missed that line.

Chipmunk_love- 09-30-2008

What is Kutner in the Guinness Book of Records for? I missed that line. He crawled for twenty miles. Makes him pretty much a god in my book. By the way, were Lucas and Cuddy hanging out in the Bones diner?

mmp629- 09-30-2008

I'm charmed by the PI. :) I not much of a Cuddy fan but LE was adorable in her scenes with him. He brings out a playfulness in both House and Cuddy that's irresistible. I didn't even notice that Wilson wasn't there! I think I saw Chase, but with the hospital mask it was hard to tell.

Namaste- 09-30-2008

What is Kutner in the Guinness Book of Records for? I missed that line. House was referring to if they ever needed medicine was at the end of a 20-mile long hallway that was only two feet high that they'd be all set, at which point Kutner piped up and admitted he was in the Guinness ... (but then he didn't give the full name -- probably for copyright issues). And I actually don't hate the PI. I was wary when the first reports of him came out, but he has a good rapport so far. Of course it depends on how long he sticks around.

And I guess this is old news, but I just realized the actor playing the PI is the son of John Rubenstein who played the cheating transplant surgeon in The Mistake. I posted that in last week's thread. I love John Rubenstein. I saw him in Pippin and Children of a Lesser God. He's a wonderful actor (and a pretty good composer, too.) Are the casting people on House attracted to musical people -- John Rubenstein, Michael Weston, Dave Matthews, Jesse Spencer, Robert Sean Leonard, Faith Prince... or is it a coincidence? Oh, and the actress who played Heather is married to Hank Wiggins of Sports Medicine.

I enjoyed the episode, but I am worried about the fact that Wilson wasn't even mentioned. Is he not coming back? ....I hope he is because I bet 20 dollars that he is coming back before the season ends. ....I also bet 10 dollars that SPOILERHouse's father is going to dieEND SPOILER but I'm sure I got that one right because I checked the spoilers about next week's episode. My friend should really learn to checks spoilers before making bets with me. ...Anyway, the whole Lucas/Cuddy thing seems to be there just to make H/C get some development..Probably. I hope. I have another bet on H/C happening this season. Mod Edit: To spoiler something, please change the text color to white (as the "Spoiler Policy" thread in "Rules, Guidelines and Announcements" explains. - Poeia Edit: Oh I'm sorry, I'm just used to using with other forums. I will remember that next time.

I posted that in last week's thread. I love John Rubenstein. I saw him in Pippin and Children of a Lesser God. He's a wonderful actor (and a pretty good composer, too. I was just reading his wiki bio and he won just about every theater award ever created for Children of a Lesser God, and for other things too. I used to love Family so I always think of that when I see him. So when the PI said he visited House's alma mater 150 miles away - Johns Hopkins? But House was thrown out of there....hmmm And was the Hugh pic they used in the cheerleader photo the same one they used for his yearbook photo in Half-Wit?

Bedawyn- 09-30-2008

"You wanted her to see you in a different light..." Sad, because it's so true -- that she didn't, can't, won't. This is why I don't buy House/Cuddy as a successful ship. Cuddy/Lucas, now, well, maybe not long term, but they can at least have fun for a while... I know it's blasphemy to say this here, but I want the PI to replace Wilson. No, no, replace, replace! Because if Lucas can take over as best friend, that frees Wilson up to be romantic partner. Better all around that way. :-)

He also told Eve in ODOR that he went to Hopkins. The speculation at the time was that he went there undergraduate and got tossed from the med school. Not the same photo.

I enjoyed the episode. The P.I. is definitely growing on me. His scenes with Cuddy were adorable. But House as a cheerleader  I am not sure I can ever recover from that. (Cute pic of HL though)

Cuddy/Lucas, now, well, maybe not long term, but they can at least have fun for a while... Well, I sure as hell didn't believe the news that House had been a cheerleader at first either. The more important part is that House wanted somebody out there to see him as something other than a complete ass -- he needs Wilson to see, and he wants Cuddy to see it. But the PI can't do that for him. House needs to make people see that himself. He needs to step up to the plate and step out of his shell and every other cliché out there. It has to be him.

NekoCat- 09-30-2008

Even though Wilson wasn't mentioned at all and there was no pining, I can't help but feel that the stuff with Taub and his wife, and the patient of the week somehow relate back to House and Wilson. (I could be delusional. But humor me :P )

IHARTHUGH- 09-30-2008

Not sure how I feel about this episode. I'm not getting all the dialogue or innuendo on the first viewing, which is frustrating - missed some of what the PI & House were saying when PI questioned House as to why he was riding Taub, for instance (I fear that part of my inability to focus fully comes from not fully wanting to be engaged with the PI and some of the newbies, although I pretty much like Taub). I wasn't clear why House suggested to Taub he not go home for a few days..... So because of these and other gaps in my understanding, it wasn't satisfying and might be better on second viewing. I actually did not like that the PI was playing House's piano, and had to focus on the fact that House didn't seem to mind.... I did enjoy the two guys playing together, because I love to see House playing an instrument. And I began to think maybe House could sort of have a new friend. I liked that Cuddy seemed to be happy with the flirtation going on between her and the PI, but he just seems too "young"-looking/acting or inappropriate in some way, for her.
