Cuddy was good, too, though I thought her having guards at the PotW's door was a bit unbelievable because she'd know House would get around them, and she should know by now that he is almost always right, but I think those who think Cuddy's backbone has grown weak must have liked that.
The point is that she did it. Her job is to cover the hospital's ass. She knew House was probably right, but he didn't have enough evidence to support his theory. She had no real choice but to do what was best in the hospital's interest -- continue the chemo. And because she knows that House is a sneaky bastard, she put the security guards outside.
Cuddy always comes off as the bad guy anyway, because if she says no to House, then people freak out because he was right, and she should have known better, but if she says yes to him and one of his crazy ideas, then it's made to look like she's letting him walk all over her. There is no real right answer.

Am i the only one who hated this episode and was like what is going on? Way too much, way too much new PI guy, what are the newbies even doing here? What happened to the foreman character, when did he become a wuss? why is the character totally different this week? What the hell happened to my favorite show?!

No.

They're taking over the show. Excuse me, they've taken over the show. 13 is second in command to House and trying to take over his spot now.
What happened to the foreman character, when did he become a wuss?
It started when he killed that chick and got worse when he got blackballed and became Cuddy's lapdog. The new team has no respect for him and neither does anyone else.
why is the character totally different this week?
I think they're just throwing crap at the wall (or at Foreman) and seeing what will stick. There's no consistency with anyone anymore.
What the hell happened to my favorite show?!
They purposefully screwed it up when they decided to fix what wasn't broken.

No, I didn't like it either. I had no problem with the PI guy because I'm sure he's temporary, I have no problem with the newbies except when they focus too much on Thirteen which wasn't the case this week, Foreman has been a wuss since Lupe so that doesn't bother me, House is different because he lost Wilson. Cuddy was back to her strong self when she appeared and I didn't miss airtime for Chase or Cameron. What bothered me was that the medicine was so bad.
Here's something I can't figure out. Cuddy has been talking to Wilson on the phone and has visited him a few times, but the PI said that the subject of House "has never come up". What the heck do they talk about then? Has Cuddy given up on convincing Wilson to be friends with House again?

A little Amber -- not much considering Wilson felt that no one at PPTH liked her (and Cuddy definitely didn't.)
The only thing I can think of is the Oncology Department. If Wilson was on a 2-month leave of absence, there must have been an acting head. And someone was taking care of Wilson's patients.
Actually, although we only see Cuddy and Wilson interacting when it's about House, they might have other things to talk about. We just don't see them because the show is about House. They didn't talk about House when they were at the not-Hockney gallery exhibit.
Ariadne- 09-28-2008
They also didn't have much to talk about either at the gallery or on their dinner date in Forever. The only thing they've ever talked freely about is House. Even how the oncology department is doing these days would be none of Wilson's business nor should Cuddy talk to him about it if he's no longer an employee of the hospital.
I can't imagine what they would talk about and Cuddy has never been that concerned about how Wilson's doing so I assume the line was in there to drive home to House how much Wilson is shutting him out.
I wasn't impressed with the episode. I liked the scenes between the PI and House but the new team bores me so the medical case went to waste. I thought Kaplow was still writing as if the show was in season 2 or 3 rather than where it is currently, and he was writing the nasty House of Distractions or Human Error rather than the one with a soul from Autopsy or Half-Wit.

One of my litmus -*test*-('")s of how much I like an ep is if it seems to fly by. This one didn't. It kind of strolled slowly by.
It wasn't the worst by far. That would go to the "One Room" ep, (which usa just showed and I watched again for some reason.)
And I really had nothing invested in the Potw. Didn't really care at all.

I finally got around to watching both episodes. I've been on the fence about whether to tune it at all but I just can't seem to quit HL. NC was slighly better than DCE but not by much. Of all the newbies, I like Kutner best. That said, I think his insta diagnosis of the H/W dynamic had a false ring to it. I just can't believe that he knows H/W well enough to say those things. Perhaps it's just me. Thankfully, we were only subjected to a little of Thirteen in NC. Foreman getting doused with exploding colon junk was gold. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
I've always been a angstwhore so the more miserable House is the better I like him. But House isn't merely angsty he's pathetic. I wonder if this is what he was like when he got dumped by Stacy. I'm on board with the PI because it seems like a faily Housian thing to do but I hope they wrap the PI arc up quickly. The PI needs to serve his purpose and move on.
While I not hatin' on Wilson I'm not liking him either. I love that he seemed shocked that for House all bets are off. Not being friends means no expectation of trust. What's the deal with Wilson's living quarters? That's not Amber's place, is it?
On a shallow note, Chase needs a haircut. All that hair hanging out of his surgical cap was making me crazy.

It looks exactly like Amber's apartment to me. Same color on the walls.
Sister Trixi- 09-29-2008
I'll take your word for it, Nightowl. I just don't remember the entry looking like that.
NightOwl- 09-29-2008
Well, not many apartments have that particular blue paint on the walls. In fact, most apartments have white or cream walls. I doubt that Wilson got a new apartment and asked the landlord to paint it the same blue from his old apartment (Amber's).
