5.01 - Dying Changes Everything Eight weeks after the death of his girlfriend, Amber, Wilson is still mourning her death, and his relationship with his best friend House is shattered. Needing to make a change in his life and give himself time to recover emotionally, Wilson resigns from Princeton-Plainsboro. He is forced to decide if House is a destructive force in his life, while House has to determine if he's responsible for the death of his best friend's girlfriend. The team must push forward as they encounter a case involving an assistant to a high-profile executive, who is a textbook "Type A" personality. The team suspects that the patient's symptoms stem from her obsession to constantly please her demanding boss. However, her shocking medical condition forces the team to rethink their initial diagnoses and see the case through House's eyes. Meanwhile, Cuddy attempts to salvage the irreparable rift between House and Wilson, and Thirteen struggles to treat the patient objectively without bringing the reality of her own medical condition to the case in the "Dying Changes Everything" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Sept. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/ PT) on FOX. Ouch! That final scene was painful.
Too much 13 tonight but I'm glad the show is back.

"We're not friends anymore". Heavy!!

The last scene, when Wilson explained why he was really leaving, had me tearing up.
Did anyone else feel like there were 27 commercial breaks in one hour?
ETA: And they haven't changed the opening credits. I'm hoping they're planning to have a Thirteen arc that ends when she leaves to make a difference somewhere else.

Oh... Wilson. My heart breaks. The whole time I was thinking, "Just say you love him, House!!"
I did enjoy Cuddy's couples counseling. As House said, "You go, girl."
And yay Cam in this episode. When she was talking about her husband, I almost cried. JM was amazing.
Too much 13, and Foreman telling Wilson to leave? Obviously he doesn't ship H/W.

Yeah, there are a lot of freakin' ads.
The whole "wings" thing was sappy/contrived. I think they missed the mark on that one. Like, are we supposed to care that she has a lower level job? Why should 13 care??
Loved the House/Wilson stuff and how upset House was at the end.

There did seem to be alot of commercials (just like there is much too much screaming in the beginning of Fringe right now). Nice Cam/Wilson scene. Interesting that the credits didn't change.

Oh my. I think I was nearly as weepy with that ending as I was for "Wilson's Heart." Well, not quite.
I love that Wilson doesn't blame House, and recognizes his own culpability as an enabler, though obviously at this point he's dwelling on all the negatives, and none of the positives of their relationship. It'll be interesting to see what it will take to bring him back -- and as painful as it is now, I love seeing their relationship under a microscope and getting a long and very tough look at it.
Also ... Taub continues to bring the snark. "She's happy you're going to get better. She just wishes it was true five minutes ago."
Re the ads: In the commentary for "House's Head," DS and KJ noted that they were talked into doing a six-scene setup for the hour, breaking the story line into six segments, rather than five. Supposedly it's the same amount of time to tell the story, but it feels more broken up.

Here comes more Wilson-hate... :(
But I love you, show, for keep this complicated and messy. I feel sorry for both House and Wilson still.
Between the "I should have been on the bus" and the parallel with the patient...I sure hope Wilson's still on those antidepressants.

OMG House and Wilson are breaking my heart.
Foreman is a prick.
13 is really starting to annoy me. She was totally unprofessional unloading on the patient.
Cameron, well done.
*sigh*

I was genuinely surprised at the last scene. I didn't see the whole "I'm leaving cause of you" coming. wow.

I actually thought House was quite reasonable in the first scene; he didn't get out of line until after Wilson said he was resigning. Will have to rewatch before analyzing him more, but it ain't happening soon, 'cause the ending killed me ... from the point he says "Almost dying changes nothing" on. I very well may officially hate Wilson now. Almost. Maybe. At least a little bit. (I definitely hate Fox for interrupting the show with those promotional overlays.)
Cuddy did not impress me this ep. Her telling him to talk to Wilson reminded me of too many fanfics in which Cuddy assumes that all their problems must be House's fault and everything will be fixed if House just "talks" to Wilson, even though he's already tried to talk to him and been shut down. And what's all this about House needing to apologize? Funny, I could have sworn I remembered him saying he was sorry last May, so why should he be getting hassled now for not saying it? For that matter, where does Cuddy get off assuming she knows what has and hasn't been said in private between two best friends anyway? And her trick with using hospital employees to cut off his cable at home completely undermines any ability she has to criticise him for not being professional or misusing hospital resources.
Thirteen didn't impress me either -- although I'm not one of the ones who think she's Cam 2.0, she sure seemed like it tonight. But I think I'll blame the writers rather than the character. The Huntingdon issue needed to be dealt with, but this wasn't how or when. It's been two months; she's already been through the immediate aftermath of finding out, so there was no urgent reason to make a fuss over it in this episode where it would distract from the House-Wilson storyline.
On the other hand, I officially like Kutner now. He grew on me very slowly last season, but I'm now ready to accept him as my favorite new duckling. And they showed again that it _is_ possible to give all the ducklings, new and old, meaningful roles; I just hope they keep it up.
I really liked the POTW's birds speech, but they rather blew the impact by her later scenes.

I also felt it was contrived that Foreman, who's entire function for 3 years was to shoot down everyone else's ideas during a DDX is now Mr. Reasonable who was annoyed at Taub for shooting down everyone else's ideas.
Yes, we get it. He is just like Foreman.
Kutner is growing on me. I like that when the others were busy sniping and each other and complaining about House not being there, he actually concentrated on the film of the surgery and on figuring out what was wrong with the patient. He's actually the only one of the new fellows who isn't a recycling of one of the first group.

"You should have been alone on the bus"? Ouch, Wilson.
I was kinda weepy. JM did a good job discussing grief, and Wilson was making me sad the whole time.
Cuddy was hilarious though, making them sit down and talk it out and threatening to keep all the TV channels on the pottery channel (is there even such a thing?) LOL

My dvr cut out and I missed everything after "you should have been on the bus alone." HELP!!!!!!!
